In between the results of a logic model are important processes called causal links and Causal Link Monitoring (CLM) can help project planners and managers identify and track whether these processes are taking place, and how. CLM integrates program design and monitoring through seven key steps:
1. Building a logic model
2. Identifying assumptions about causal links
3. Enhancing the logic model with diverse perspectives and contextual factors
4. Prioritizing areas of observation
5. Collecting monitoring data
6. Interpreting and using monitoring data for adaptive management
7. Revising the logic model
